My name is Margo McHugh and I'm from Chicago, Illinois.  Before we moved out to Aspen when I was 6, my family and I were always visiting and I was able to learn to ski just after my first birthday.  Since I was little I've always wanted to go fast, and when I was 10 years old I began skiing with Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club.

2016-2017 ski season, I was ranked first in the nation in Downhill for my birth year (2001).  Now being first year FIS, it's far more competitive, but I'm keeping my head down and staying focused on the little successes.  I've managed to land a few podium results in Super G and Downhill this season, and I'm looking forward to the upcoming races before the season comes to a close.  I hope to continue my skiing career throughout college, or to even make the US Ski team for speed, but no matter what I want skiing to remain a part of my life because I love everything it has to offer.  Aside from skiing, I also love to play soccer and have played on the Rocky Mountain Olympic Development Program Team, as well as competed in Europe and an American-Danish team with Scandia Unitied.

“Just wanted to update you on my season so far! It’s been tough in terms of finishing races, but I had a great couple of races last week at Aspen Highlands for the Superg qualifiers. I ended up 3rd two days in a row for both races, which puts me in 1st and 2nd for my age group! With those results I have a great chance of qualifying for US nationals. So I’m really excited about that. I travel to Spirt Mountain in Minnesota next Thursday, the 31st, for Slalom qualifier races. It’s supposed to be pretty cold, but I’m excited regardless.” - Margo McHugh 2019
